Makeup for Lin

Can you believe it? I'm back again. I wish I could really update as often as possible but my schedule does not permit me the past weeks. Moving on, I'd like to share my first makeup service for my orgmate who is participating in a pageant. This is only a pre - pageant, that's why I went for the simplest dark smokey brown look paired with a soft pink lips. My sis is blessed with a very beautiful face and what I did was just to enhance her features. Since it was just the opening ceremony, I made a very simple hairstyle because of the lack of time. Meet Lin.

Isn't she beautiful even without makeup? I had a blast yesterday with my orgmates, till next post.

Lashes Lashes!

Lately, I have accumulated a number of false eyelashes. Since they come at a very cheap price, I did not hesitate to buy each and every design. Drool now! Hahaha.

Nice noh? I can't wait to try all of 'em. Till my next post.

Island Basics Scratch Proof After Bite Balm

During my college years, one thing that's always in my bag is a mentholated balm or oils with minty scent because I often get headaches when I'm exposed to sunlight. My eyes are very sensitive to light, the moment I forget to bring my sunglasses, that's when my nightmare starts.  My orgmate would even call me "matanda" when they see those bottle of White Flower or a jar of Betet menthol balm. Some of them hate the smell of it, but I don't care, it's the only thing that helps me when headache attacks me. I usually have a number of back ups of these mentholated balm in my different bags just to make sure I won't forget it. That's why when this Island Basics Scratch Proof After Bite Balm was given to me for review, I was very excited to try it because I know this will be useful to me. Before I share you my experience with this product, let me introduce to you Island Basics. Island Basics is a proudly Filipino brand which was born when the owners had their baby daughter and they were challenged to look for products that are natural for babies.

"Our products are all locally made in the Philippines and whenever possible, our ingredients are also sourced locally. We also support some groups like Green Earth and World Vision. By buying our products, you help provide jobs and education to Filipinos.

Back to basics. As simple as that.

Did you know that whatever you put on your skin is absorbed by your body? Why slather your body with chemicals that have hardly any benefits on your skin? Why inhale fumes from chemically made cleaners and fragrances? Why settle for commercially made products that are loaded with hard to pronounce words when we can give you a natural alternative. Read our labels, they're all straightforward. And we don't give you false promises."

Island Basics Scratch Proof After Bite Balm

Relieves itches due to insect bites and mild allergies. Good also for headaches and slight muscle pains.

Made with beeswax, VCO, botanical extracts and oils.

I had the chance to use this on headaches and itchiness but not on insect bites. Here's my view about the product.

What I like:

  • The scent is just right, not too strong and not too mild.
  • The product doesn't easily melt when exposed exposed to a warm temperature.
  • It is not too greasy at all when applied.
  • Heals my headache provided that I applied the right amount.
  • Relieves itchiness.
  • The size is travel friendly.
  • Its organic and affordable at P70.
What I don't like:
  • It takes a longer period of time to heal the headaches.
I love the fact that this balm is organic though it does not perform much like the commercial ones like Katinko or Betet in terms of the period of healing the headache. This is a permanent stay in my favorite bag. I particularly use this when people around me are sensitive to smell of mentholated balms as this doesn't have a very strong scent. HerBench Paintbox NutriLips

Hello ladies! Here I am taking a little bit of break from my thesis chores by blogging. Another review and swatches lippies from a  Filipino brand Bench, actually HerBench. It was my BF's birthday and we planned to watch Tower Heist in Newport Mall. I forgot to bring my pashmina that day. I usually cannot bear the cold environment inside a moviehouse, that's why I always bring something to cover my arms whenever we go to movies. So I went around Newport Mall to find a cheap jacket to wear. I stumbled upon Bench and of course, I found makeups. And you know what happened next. I bought my jacket and this two lippies with me.

Fancy Pink and Coco Lush

Here we go again with the description of shades. Please bear with me :). Fancy Pink is great for everyday wear, its not too loud but not too sheer. Coco Lush is a brownish shade that is very close to my lip shade when swiped once. Also great for everyday wear.

Fancy Pink and Coco Lush applied without a lip balm, see how moisturizing these lippies are.

Why I love it:
  • Super Moisturizing, no need for a lip balm.
  • Pigmentation is just right, you can pile up more layers as you want to create a bolder lips.
  • Love the butter scent.
  • The packaging is storage friendly. No difficulty in identifying what shade it is, the other side is see - through.
  • The staying power is  3 hours max without eating and drinking.
  • Affordable a P198.
  • A lot of shades to choose from.
Why I don't love it:
  • Actually, none.
I think this is the most moisturizing lipstick I have ever tried. My lips are super dry, extreme! If you can see how oily my face is, that's how dry my lips are. This are perfect for ladies with dry lips who are lazy to use lip balms. I'm buying the other shades next time. What's your lipstick today? I would love to know?
